This page has been designed to help answer the most commonly asked questions about Club Gold Volleyball. Club Gold has been assisting the volleyball athlete since 1993. We are widely regarded as one of the top clubs in the area, as many of the schools who have players in our club enjoy a much-improved level of play in the fall. Club Gold is available to young ladies ranging in ages from 10 to 18.
Our goal here at Club Gold is to provide female athletes an opportunity to continue playing volleyball outside the school season. We want them to have a positive experience and to acquire additional skills in the sport.
If you are looking to improve your skills and become a better volleyball player, then you should consider joining Club Gold this upcoming season!
Any girl age 10 through 18, who is interested in volleyball.
Informational meetings are scheduled to address questions and concerns of parents and players interested in learning more about Club Gold. Tryouts normally take place in November after the school season has ended. Practices usually take place one weeknight and on Sunday during the season. The average season lasts January through May. Most teams will begin tournament play in March and end their season in May. Tournaments are conducted on a Saturday or a Sunday and usually take place within a 1.5 hour drive of your base area. Teams try to enter at least 5 events with an average of two a month.
Can I play if I am involved in other school activities?
YES! As far a we are concerned, THERE IS NO CONFLICT! Athletes should honor their school commitments first. We highly encourage club members to be active in their schools activities. However, we would ask that you consider not participating with Club Gold if your school activities will cause you to miss a tournament or several practices.
Club Gold coaches are chosen from local Junior/Senior High school programs, have coached at the secondary level, and/or have played at the collegiate level and have a great desire to see the game advance.
Fees are set each year and are determined by such things as fees for tournaments, coachs salaries, and USAVB registration fees. Fees can range anywhere form $250-$600 depending on what team the athlete plays. Fundraisers are conducted to help offset the cost to the athlete.
The two greatest benefits Club Gold has to offer are exposure to the game at a high level and additional practice and playing time. Each tournament attended offers at least four matches. Equal playing time is not guaranteed to individuals participating.
Where will I practice and play?
Practices in the past have been held in area schools such as Indian Creek Jr. and Sr. High, Edison High School, Franciscan University of Steubenville, St. Mary's of St. Clairsville, Muskingum College and the Martin Luther King Jr. Recreation Center in Steubenville. Tournaments are held throughout Ohio and Pennsylvania at various colleges and universities as well as popular sports complexes. Local tournaments have been hosted by Harrison Central High School and the Franciscan University of Steubenville.
